Creating Sub Surfaces

From interpreted data from one och more GeoSuite projects it is easy to build Sub Surface models. The basis for triangulating the model are retrieved automatically from relevant objects containing the specific attribute data - such as for rock och clay.

Using Templates

To facilitate the use of data from GeoSuite a number of templates have been developed for the most common types of models: rock, frictional soil, clay, etc.

Below are examples of templates (Swedish):

To create a Sub Surface Model

Here are the steps to create av sub surface from GeoSuite data. Refer to the article about importing data into the model.

  1. Activate the panel “Modelling”
  2. Choose a suitable template - “Berg” (Rock“ in this example)
  3. Give the activity a suitable name and placement in the process tree
  4. By choosing the template, “Berg” (Rock) in this example, an object and attribute filtering is activated to only pick objects with relevant attribute data (=rock). This can be seen from the Object filter dialog: (sorry for the Swewdish :-()

    The dialog is showing that we have 247 objects containing information about “Berg” (Rock) out of a total of 1 145 objects containing interpretations of any kind.
  5. Execute the creation of the sub surface model by select “Finish”.
  6. The model should now be visible in the process explorer:
  7. In the Explorer - Right click the newly created model and choose to view it in a 3D View - by choosing the Drawing Rule “GeoInterpretation” it shows as a red colored surface:
  8. And by showing both the boreholes and the resulting TIN we see…
