Novapoint 19.20

Updates in Novapoint Base

Model Version

When opening a binder with a Quadri Model created with an earlier version of Novapoint (e.g. NP19.00 or NP19.10), a message box will appear with the following message: “Model <modelname> needs upgrading because it's made with an earlier version of Novapoint - Upgrade Model? - Yes/No”.

  • Selecting “Yes” will upgrade the current model and the upgrade process will start. When it is complete, the message “Model <modelname> is upgraded” will display in the process info window. Once a Quadri Model is upgraded, it can no longer be opened with earlier versions of Novapoint (e.g. NP19.00 or NP19.10).
  • Selecting “No” will abort the updating process, and the Quadri Model can still be opened with previous versions of Novapoint.

Delete all non-result features

  • NEW: When deleting a task, one should normally check-box “Also delete result features”. In case this is omitted, the model will have objects without a connection to a task. One can now delete such objects by right clicking the Quadri Model in the Explorer window and selecting the function “Delete all non-result features”.
  • CHANGED: When deleting a task, the option “Also delete result features” has default been set to OFF. The default value is now changed to ON, with some exception for tasks that modify the input data.

Create a new empty binder

  • NEW: From the top left corner menu, it is now possible to create a new empty binder. Once created, use the right-click menu on the binder and add a Quadri Model with “New”, “Open” or “Add QuadriDCM project”.

Import

  • NEW: Area of Interest is an attribute within the Quadri Model that is used to define a boundary for a given operation. One of it's main purposes is to act as a geographical fence when importing data. In NP19.20 an “Area of Interest” attribute is defined when creating a new Quadri Model if this is specified in the task template. One can check the presence of such an attribute by checking the properties of the Quadri Model. When importing data, all objects outside the “Area of Interest” will be excluded. This is done to prevent importing data far outside what is considered normal boundaries.
  • CHANGED: Work process: User must now click button Select file(s) to open file browser and button Select rules to open conversion rule selector. After selecting conversion rules and Preview, converted features are shown in new plan window (not longer next to the window with non-converted features.)
  • NEW: New format included: Geosuite projects(*.dbs, *.dbsx). New drawing rules and new Sub surface task templates are also added for this type of objects.
  • CHANGED: Fixed apphang when finishing an import process including many sosi-files.
  • CHANGED: There is now a limit for sosi import set to 300MB. A warning will appear when trying to open sosi files larger than 300MB.
  • NEW: DWG Reader settings, New options > Ignored Features

  • CHANGED: Importing 3DFACES, defaut setting to merge 3DFACES on same layer now set to Yes

  • CHANGED: Improved feedback (in process window) when 3DFACES on same layer are merged to one object:

  • CHANGED: Information about imported and not imported features are stored to the task and shown in properties:

Conversion

  • Creating new (or a copy) of a Conversion file, there is a new options with Compatibility

  • Information about compatibility is found here:

http://help.novapoint.com/doku.php?id=en:np:base:reference:conv_file_edit:start

Export

  • Possibility to change coordinate reference system (CRS)during export:

Ortophoto and WMS

Ortophoto and WMS connections are improved. These connections to external data sources have now their own task types found from Insert > External Data source.

How to use the ortophoto task is described here: http://resourcecenter.novapoint.com/doku.php?id=en:np:base:reference:orthophoto:start

How to use the WMS task is described here: http://resourcecenter.novapoint.com/doku.php?id=en:np:base:reference:wms:start

Windows

  • New technology is used for Plan and 3D windows. There is a major improvement of the performance of the plan window. Due to this change, user defined drawing rules (presentation rules) created in earlier versions for the plan window will not work. All OpenGL renderhandlers must be replaced with new OSG renderhandlers.
  • Some new drawing rules are

Updates in Novapoint Road

New road model format

When you open a road in 19.20 the road model is converted to a new format. A 19.20 road model can be saved as “Save As” an *.ind file that can be opened in 19.10 however input for the new functions or the extended tables will be lost, particularly Landscaping and Deep blasting.

In 19.20 a road model can also be saved as a set of files (*.gen) that can be used in other programs or imported to another 19 model.

The drawing rules for road are updates

I 19.20 the following default rules apply: The following surfaces will give the following textures:

  • 0.1 Ditch bottom
  • 0.2 – 0.3 Ditch wall
  • 0.4 – 0.6 Grass
  • 0.7 – 0.8 Curb stone - concrete
  • 0.9 Road shoulder - asphalt
  • 3.1 – 3.2 Curb stone - concrete
  • 3.3 Ditch wall
  • 3.4 Ditch bottom
  • 3.5 Ditch wall
  • 3.6 - 3.9 Cycle way - asphalt

New Landscaping

19.20 includes a new function to define terrain forming along a road. This replaces the existing Landscaping function.

It is under Data – Cut and Fill Elements:

It uses the same user interface as Advanced Road Pavement… and offers increased functionality.

The Start surface describes where the landscaping should start and whether it should stop the FIRST or LAST time the description meets the terrain surface.

Surface 1, 2, 3.. defines the width and slope for each additional surface.

The number of surfaces available has been increased to 15 including the End Surface.

It is also possible to define a surface from an alignment and thus landscaping can be connected to another road as shown below.

An example of how to use the function is shown below:

New Deep Blasting

19.20 includes a new function to define Deep blasting. This is placed as alayer under the road bed in the Advanced Road Pavement dialogue.

Input is similar to both Landscaping and Advanced Road Pavement.

An example of how to use the function is shown below:

The same values are used for the left and right side.

A new function has been added to print cross-sections to pdf.

Select Plot to – PDF file:

The fields in the following tables in the road model have been increased from 10 (25) to 50

Ditch depth , Guard rail, Edge reinforcement, Rehabilation, Search Width, Quantity Boundaries Left and Right.

The Road menu in AutoCAD is now available as a Ribbon.

This function draws all the Longitudional Profiles in one operation giving the user the option to edit the datum for each frame.

Select the Analyze datum method and select Next.

In the next dialogue you can adjust the datum for each frame:

All the Longitudinal Frames are drawn and Model Views created. Model Views are saved automatically in the same way as when you draw the Plan Frames from the draw plan frame icon:

The Plan and profile can then be joined in one drawing by selecting the Plan and Profile Generator in an AutoCAD Layout.

3D Junction – Junction Wizard…

The 3D Junction wizard has been improved and can be used in most simple junction situations. Note it is important that all Carriageway and Shoulder surfaces are continuous through the area for the intersection. This is particularly important when there is widening, continue the widening surface with a small width through the intersection.
