Updates in NovapointDCM Base

General

INFO: Novapoint does unfortunatly not support Windows 10 yet because the graphic card drivers are not fully adjusted to Windows 10. The result is that some of the 3D elements in NovapointDCM Base application will not be fully visible.

NEW: Presentation/drawing rules are now shown with flag icon if they are taken from the configuration folder on installation. A user defined presentation/drawing rule also has its own icon . Location of userdefined presentation rules can be set at N > Options> Environment > Folder Drawing Rules User Defined. Rules without icon are rules at default installation configuration folder.

IMPROVED: Presentation/drawing rules, where contour lines of features with TIN or grid geometry (i.e Contour calculation presentation rules) are calculated and shown, are improved. Now the contours are rounded to nearest selected interval value

NEW: Pattern renderhandler renders now 3D surfaces. It is also possible to add and show textures on vertical surfaces and solid geometries.

IMPROVED: When users works with QuadriDCM and removest asks as indata in other tasks then delete these tasks, there was in earlier versions an error that when this clean up was shared to QuadriDCM, the list of successors in other worksets was not updated with the changes. This is now fixed.

IMPROVED: Property > Details > Edit point value. In earlier versions at some computers users got crash when change a X/Y/Z value. This is now fixed

IMPROVED: Screen resolution 125% showed in earlier versions only part of the Helicopter navigation dialogue. This is now fixed.

Modelling

Ground Surface and Sub Surface

IMPROVED: When using TIN priority and editing the list of priority, the changes in the list was not stored next time the settings dialogue was opened. This is now fixed.

NEW: New possibility in Settings to optimize TIN structure. The new setting is found here: Settings > TIN breaklines > Optimize TIN structure > Use TIN edges from surface geometries as breaklines. This will increase speed of calculation.

NEW: New possibility to optimize merging of TIN surfaces, by filling small holes. These holes can appear where the surfaces to be merge crosses. The new setting is found here: Settings > TIN priority > Control overlapping indata features with TIN structure> Fill small holes. Min width of hole in result: 0.001m (user can give another value)

Example of result when this setting is NOT selected. In image below a building pit is merged together with surrounding terrain:

In the image above, you can see that the result feature has many inner holes/boundaries (45)

In the image above, you can see that the result feature has less inner holes/boundaries (35). The merging also results in one less result feature.

Move vertically

IMPROVED: Corrected the error that when user Canceled the task, the task was not canceled and edited/new result was saved.

Terrain shaping

NEW:First version of integrated terrain shaping in the Quadri model is released. With this first verison you can test how it is to model with point elevations to create a TIN surface. The tool is simular to Point elevation tools in Novapoint Terrain and Novapoint Landscape modules in the AutoCAD environment. It is easy to set out point and decide the slope between them. The terrain surface is calculated directly and contourlines are seen automatically.

Alignment

NEW: It is now possible to create a new alignment by copying geometry from a line in the model:

IMPROVED: Corrected an error where Section Depth was wrongly set to 25m when standard section interval was set to 10m.

Import

IMPROVED : Reimport of DWG. Layers from the first import was shown in the dialog. Current layers always appears now.
IMPROVED : Reimport of DWG. New layers are added to the DWG automatically imported .
IMPROVED : Import of DWG. Explode blocks are the default choice.
IMPROVED : Import of KOF. Some files stalled during reading. This has been corrected .

Export

IMPROVED : Export of LandXML reference line had sometimes negative radius .

 

Updates in Novapoint Road

New Road ribbon in Novapoint Base

Improvements in the road ribbon including:
* Adjust an alignment in horizaontal or vertical and the ribbon is updated autmatically with the maximum length when full length is selcetd.
* Can now add a minus start and end chainage for the Start/End
* Change the design standard and you will be asked whether you will overwrite the old standard, Yes/No if No then the road will be rebuilt with the old standard.

New Alignment selector (Task selector)

A new alignment selector has been added for almost all functions that select single tasks or alignments. Allows the user to filter and easily find the alignment needed.

Alignment Design New features in Alignment Design:

Select an object from the model, copy and create an alignment

With this option you can create an alignment task from any line in your model.

Turn off Automatic Quadri Save

For long alignments it is possible to turn off the Automatic Quadri Save in Alignment Design to increase speed when working with the vertical geometry window. The terrain profile is shown but not updated. Important to turn on the Automatic Quadri Save when adjusting the horizontal geometry.

Color coding of calculation errors in Input grid

It is now possible to visually identify the areas along the alignment:

  • where segment types are OK (no color)
  • where segment types are OVEREVALUATED (red color)
  • where segment types are UNDEREVALUATED (blue color)
  • where a problem occurs (orange color)

In addition to color coding, the element error message is displayed in the status pane and as a tool-tip.

Alignment name from name attribute when importing from LandXML

When importing an alignment from LandXML the name of the alignment in Alignment Design is set to the name of the alignment in the XML file.

Tool-tips show name of segmnet type in input grid

When you hoover the mouse over the segment type cell in the input grid, a tool-tip shows the name of the segment type.

Last used import/export fil filter remembered

Alignment Design now remembers the last used file filter for both export and import of files.

Terrain shaping (this you will find under NovapointDCM base)

Updates in Novapoint Railway

Cross Section Wizard

We have addressed a critical error in this feature that led to errors in the surface description for double track situations where tracks were not parallel. The reason was that the surface +-2.1 was not set up with line boundary and surface +-1.5 was not set as free surface. This led to the width of cross section not matching the distance between the tracks in curves that were not parallel.

Here is an example of correct surface description:

There where also an error in the calculated height of surface +-2.1 in double track situations using separate vertical geometries. This is now fixed.


The View Parameters dialog should now be showing the parameters description again.


Alignment Design

New features in Alignment Design:

Updates in Novapoint Tunnel

User friendly graphical editing of the different tunnel components
It is now possible to do a graphical editing of the different tunnel components (inner profile, perimeter etc.). You can open the graphical editing dialog by choosing Edit from the Reference Line in the Tunnel Design dialog.

When you click on the Edit-button, a graphical editing dialog opens where you can drag and split the different tunnel components by clicking on their respective interval bars. By using this dialog for editing the location of the different tunnel components, you will never have dependency challenges between the components anymore when changing the layout of the tunnel.



Export of tunnel registrations and shift logs in Novapoint Tunnel XML-format
It is now possible to export the tunnel registrations and the shift log from the Shift Log tab in the Geology and Rock support Registration dialog. The files are exported in the XML-format used in Novapoint 18.


These files can be used when defining new Tunnel registration and/or shift log tasks in another project e.g.. Use the Import template to import these files when you make new tasks. Use this import/export functionality when you want to move the tunnel registrations and/or the shift logs from one project to another.

Error corrections in Novapoint Tunnel

  • The geometry failed in some situations if the reference line was located very much to one of the sides in the tunnel cross-section. This is corrected now.
  • For geology- and rock support registration : When the tunnel was viewed against sinking chainage numbers, then the interval limitations specified in the registration tool didn’t always work correctly. This is now corrected.
  • When two tunnel registration tasks were merged, the result was not always correct. This is now corrected.
  • When lines from the terrain model were used as sideways limitations in the road model, then Novapoint Tunnel didn’t always find continuous road lines to connect to. This is now corrected.
  • 3D-drawing: The performance in Novapoint 19.35 is now very much improved, but still the performance is unfortunately not as good as for Novapoint 19.30
  • Two new rock types are introduced for the geology registration functionality: Silt stone and Flysch.
  • The Geology and Rock support registration drawing was sometimes drawn blank. This is now corrected.
